wireless networks are springing up everywhere and the exponential growth doesn't seem to show signs of stopping anytime soon. for home and office users, the ability to network computers at opposite ends of a building without having run cables all over the place is very appealing.

is your data safe?
but it comes at a price. as your confidential, private or personal information is being beamed from your computer across the network, how do you ensure that nobody else intercepts it? if any computer with a wireless network card can connect to your access point, how do you ensure that prying eyes aren't surfing around your network?
who is using your bandwidth?
the issues do not end with confidential information being at risk to snoopers, do you really want your neighbour stealing your bandwidth, or downloading illegal material? as recently as two years ago, surveys revealed that most public and private Wi-Fi networks used no encryption at all, meaning that anyone with a laptop and Wi-Fi card could intercept and read data packets being sent or received by legitimate users. while more home networks use encryption now, they often use WEP, which is easily cracked. all hackers need are readily downloadable "sniffing" tools, such as those used by "wardrivers." (Wardrivers are those who wander the streets with Wi-Fi gear looking for networks to join -- most are hobbyists or simple bandwidth seekers, but some are malicious.
youcould already be at risk without installing any Wi-Fi equipment!
even if you don't have any wireless equipment located on your network, your network could still be at risk. you don't have to have a wireless router / access point to be vulnerable, anybody logged on to your network (i.e. an employee) using say their own Wi-Fi enabled laptop could be opening up your network to attack. hackers will access your network through this wireless enabled device.

Wi-Fi network security evaluation service
we offer a Wi-Fi network evaluation service that will give you detailed information about the potential risks to your Wi-Fi network. we can also implement our ten point action plan that will ensure you are protected from low level attack and depending on the size and complexity of your network we can advise and implement further security polices you should adopt for greater security.
